6/18 - 6/22: inter-dimensional design

Shape and form is the foundation of design and our world - they are found all around us and inspire the things we make and the way we live. Join us for coming up with design ideas using biomimicry, brainstorming, sketching, turning those sketches into 3D models and then using 3D printing, graphic design, and laser cutting to bring our designs to life. The week will finish with you creating your own 3D design and print. No previous experience required. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

6/25 - 6/29: analog architecture

Use balsa wood, cardboard, and molds to create! This week's projects will focus on tactile designing with no computers. Join us for a fun week practicing how to create using basic materials, and learn how this tactility will open up the opportunities that everyday materials gives designers. Computers are a crucial design tool, but don't underestimate the creativity that comes with starting out in real materials! No previous experience required. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

7/9 - 7/13: automotive design

Cars! This session is all things transportation, such as designing and 3D printing your own RC car top. We will take you through the design process, including inspiration, ideation, sketching, paper prototyping, 3D modeling, and 3D printing. The week will complete with you bringing home your own RC car! No previous experience required. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

7/16 - 7/20: Electric creations

Discover conductivity in a week of design! This session we will use materials such as conductive thread and conductive ink to design responsive environments, as well as an introduction to circuitry and coding. This feeds into wearable technology in the last part of the week, culminating in your own projects that you can take home. No previous experience necessary. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscren, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

7/23 - 7/27: soundscape

This session we'll learn about recording music! Get an introduction to many different aspects of audio, such as recording, editing, and mixing. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

7/30 - 8/3: Robots

3D print your own robot! In this session, we'll learn how to embed electronics through design, prototype, 3D model, and 3D print. At the end of the week, you'll go home with your own 3D-printed robot that you design yourself! No previous experience necessary. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

8/6 - 8/10: transportation: maritime

This session is all about ships, sailing, and the waters. We'll take a field trip to the Maritime Museum, and learn about the design of ships! No previous experience necessary. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.

8/13 - 8/17: material madness

How many materials do you see around you? How were they made? Everyday we interact with a variety of materials, and the history behind materials holds hidden opportunities to the way we design our future. Discover different materials, and learn about color theory and how it impacts us through everyday products. Learn how products around you were made and came together, and make designs that can be replicated! No previous experience necessary. Please pack a lunch, bring sunscreen, and dress appropriately for our midday break.
